Stockholm, Wisconsin, population 66. Spring Street Inn offers both quiet retreat from urban life and ready access to Stockholm’s celebrated array of specialty shops and eateries. Beautiful Lake Pepin is just down the street, and the village itself invites lingering walks along its quiet lanes. Our guests immerse themselves in the charms of the village, the scenic beauty of the area, or the vibrant artist’s community embracing the village. Or they may choose to simply sit back on our porch and watch the world go by.
Excursion opportunities abound up and down the river, and there are any number of magnificent drives inland through Wisconsin’s famed Driftless Area or down one of its remarkable Rustic Roads.
Spring Street Inn reflects both the 160-year Scandinavian heritage of the village and its 40-year immersion in the arts, particularly those that capture human folkways and the wonders of nature. Built over and around an 1879 stone cottage, the inn carries Old World ambiance–but modern amenities. Our two suites each have individual character, ensuite bathrooms, air conditioning, and free wi-fi.
Captivating gardens are everywhere in Stockholm, and ours is one of the most viewed, painted, and photographed. Recently approved as a Certified Wildlife habitat, it is planted to native species that attract a host of butterflies and moths, most notably the Giant Swallowtail and the Hummingbird Clear-wing. It is also a favored habitat for chickadees, titmice, nuthatches, woodpeckers, house wrens, vireos, robins, and orioles, along with an assortment of squirrels and chipmunks. Enjoy the garden from the porch or relax with a cool drink at the table.
